Preset Camera Views
Snap to views: front, side back, bottom.
Allow to choose object relative to snap view too as well.
55 votesThank you for the suggestion! Absolutely top/back, etc. views are very helpful. Something we are looking into!

Background Layer Controls (position, rotate, scale)
Currently the background image is simply projected as is with some basic controls for choosing between scale modes (crop, fit, or scale). Controls would allow you to position, rotate, and scale the background image freely in relation to the camera.

360 background image
I would like to be able to use a 360 still or video with Dimension so that when I rotate the view the background rotates in relation to the objects in the center.
33 votesWe’ve started some working on making the background “360”, so you can see the full environment light or a 360 photo. We’ll update again when this is available!
-
Reflect/Mirror/Flip 3d Object
I need ability to duplicate and relection 3d element. Right now if we duplicate 3d stuff on the left and want it the same look and position on the right - reflected look. It is impossible to get the look using rotation orbit.
31 votesGreat suggestion! Thank you for the detailed request.

Snap Objects Together
Snap Objects together by seecting the two faces you want to touch (snap to surface, snapy to edge, snapt to center etc)
31 votesHello! Snapping in 3D is a huge must for Dimension! I wanted to share two things!
First, if you haven’t tried it yet, clicking on the “pivot handle” (the white handle at the center of the gizmo) will let you drag models along the surface of other models and the ground. I’ve attached a .gif and you can learn more about the move tools in Dimension here:
https://helpx.adobe.com/dimension/using/use-transform-tools-select-arrange-objects.htmlSecond, we’re also going to start working on some more advanced object snapping. I’ll update soon when we have progress!

Align Camera View to Model Face
Allow the user to align the camera straight with face. Clicking the "Align to Face" icon and seleting a a straight face within the model space will align the camera view straight on with the face. This could be useful for applying materials, meshes and images such as logos should they become available.
20 votesWe wanted to let you guys know that we have started this feature along with a few other new camera updates. Hopefully in the next released version of Dimension we will ship with the ability to align the camera to a face. Currently, it is implemented within the Orbit tool, so you can just double click on a face with the Orbit tool active (or cmd+double right click with any tool active) and the camera will move to look at that point, aligned to the surface. This can help with aligning decals to surfaces. You can see a prototype of this working in the attached gif.

Manually create horizon line
Not all photographs have the obvious horizon line that you use in your tutorials. However, as the photographer sometimes you know where it is. It would be great if you could manually insert a horizon line where you know that it is and have it use that. i.e. just draw a horizon line on the photograph that you have used.
19 votesGreat suggestion! You do still have the manual camera controls in the upper-right corner of the viewport, but drawing a horizon does seem like it would help speed that up. :)

Use Rulers
Can we get rulers?

Place Objects on Background Walls/Planes
It would be awesome to have an option to delve deeper into the raster background image—say of an office or room—by being able to place models on the wall with the shadows/lighting interacting as it would hanging/leaning there.
15 votesThanks for the suggestion! This is actually something we are looking into, though it’s a bit down the line. We have some research going on for it though!
-
Custom Pivot Points
Can we can we add additional pivot points? Like bottom left, top right, etc.?
14 votesDimension added support for reading custom pivot information when importing models from other sources. We do plan to add the ability to set and edit customized pivots in Dimension in the future.
-
Step and Repeat (Clone/Array)
It would be very usefull if designers could "step and repeat" objects in 3 dimensions to create a "store" visualisation effect. Important issue is that only one object can be modified. If the "master" object is changed, all objects in the "step and repeat" group should be automatically updated.
14 votesGreat suggestion! Thank you for posting details!
-
Support for Gradients in Color Fields
It would be interesting to be able to degrade (gradient) in the background instead of a single color!

Camera Lens options
I'm doing renders and wanting to emulate a 50mm Canon FD lens that I have in my kit. It occurred to me that Lightroom has all of the details on every one of these lenses AND the distortion/vignetting that those lenses apply to the image.
Proposal:
Add lens options to the camera feature to enable us to replicate existing lenses. This would include the option of adding lens distortions (this is especially valuable in renders with high-dof where rendered objects are out of focus and near the edge of the frame where barrel distortion would change how the focus appears) …
13 votesThank you for the suggestion! This sounds like something we would want to add in the future.

UV Map Editing or UV Map included
3D Models should come with UV Map for easy artwork creation.
8 votesAll of the models that we include in the app or sell on Adobe Stock already have UVs added, so just to be clear you’re asking for a 2D image version of the UVs that you could take into Photoshop or Illustrator, etc, correct?

Background Artificial Sky & Cloud Controls
In many cases it is easy to find a good exterior photo to use as a background. However finding photos with perfect sky is problematic. If you could add composting controls for sky and clouds it would make the compostition interactive.

Adding Another Horizon/Grid
The ability to add a new level/horizon/layer of grid, for example to lay objects out as if on a set of shelves, would be a great help, please

Show HDRI IBL in Background
When you apply a spherical HDRI image to the background, there should be an option to unfreeze the image so when you orbit, the background changes with it.
additionally, if an HDRI is chosen, it would be handy to have sliders in the options bar that allow you to change the image rotation, and scale. See attached concept
7 votesThanks for the suggestion. We’re adding an option to use the IBL as the background, but sounds like you want to use a seperate spherical background image, correct?

Add Image to 3D Scene
I love that this is built for designers with image backgrounds, but as a photographer this could be huge for compositing. So basically I need the reverse. I need to be able to take a masked layer (say a masked out runner) and throw them into this scene and have refraction (glass) or what not to interact with the masked layer of the runner. so the ability to bring masked layers of photos into the scene to render out with objects is what I'd love to have! I currently have to do this in C4D

Separate Camera Objects
Having the camera as a 3D object in the scene

Ability to Lock Camera Position
I would like the ability to lock the camera position, so that I can easier work within a composited 3D scene
6 votesWe’ve got camera locking done in an internal build and it will be available in the future! In the mean time, you can use the Camera Bookmarks system to save a camera view and then return to it at any time.
