  1. Set size of decals

    The most difficult part in my work with Dimension is to manage the UVmap: even if the face model and the Decal were exactly the same sizes, the textures never corresponded exactly. It would have helped me to be able to indicate the size in cm of a each decal.

  2. Don't Combine Parts by Material

    Dimension seems to automatically combine model parts when they use the same material, such as when I use the Sampler Tool. This is problematic because there seems to be no way to separate the parts after this operation. What if I want to change the properties or material of just one part? Now I can't. If anything, they should be put in a subgroup or navigable tree.

    Helllo! I was hoping to get some more information on this topic. Let me start by clarifying that Dimension has 2 ‘lists’. 

    There is the Scene Panel ‘object’ list which is all the 3D components. Then there is the “Appearance” list which shows the materials and graphics applied to any specific object.

    The object list you can think of as actual parts. These can me moved independently, can be renamed, reorganized, etc.

    If you want to have a distinct piece that is always listed as a separate part, you can make it an object in the object list. Make a magic wand selection, then cut/paste the selection into a new object. Now it will show up as a 3D object and can be moved, renamed, etc.

    The appearance list however, has different functionality. It’s a list of materials and graphics applied to an object, and is intended to auto-rename and…

  3. Import Subdivision Surfaces

    I bought a 3D model and imported the .obj. A perfect circle looks like it was drawn with a ruler. I don't think it's a problem in the file (the previews of the model in de shop look great) but I think it's the combination with Adobe Dimension.

    Any suggestions how to fix this?

    This model was likely made with a technique called “Subdivision surfaces”. This technique means that the user models a low poly model and then applies a modifier that divides each piece of the model into new pieces, and autosmooths between the new divides.

    Dimension doesn’t support subdivision surfaces today, so when you import it, we lose that information and can only import the original geometry.

    Support for subdivision surfaces is something we’d like to add, though I don’t have a time estimate on it.

    You can ‘bake’ the subdivision surfaces into geometry before exporting from the original modeling tool to have it come into Dimension properly.

  6. Be able to apply decals to surfaces with holes in

    When applying a decal to a surface that has one or more holes in, currently the decal distorts around the hole. Could this be fixed please?

  7. Cloud render yields blank canvas

    When using credits and the resulting image will be a blank canvas (?), Deminsion should display an alert or warning, maybe a suggestion on what's going wrong BEFORE the file is uploaded to the cloud!. I just created an image, and used 3 out 15 crdits to get a nice blank canvas back and I have no dea why. Not my first rendering (cloud or otherwise) with Domension but my first "dud".

  8. respect pivot point and coordinate system

    I have a specific pivot point on my OBJs. When I import it into Dimensions, the pivot seems to change to the centroid. It would be nice to have an option to respect the pivot of the model and not have it changed. Also it would also be nice be able to work Z up if needed.

  9. Shrink Sleeve Label / Wrap-around Graphic Mode

    I am working on a sleeve label design for a rounded bottle. In Dimensions, the graphic decal modes don't allow to warp seamlessly the design around the bottle.

    This feature works on flat cylindrical models like the drink can included, but not in rounded objects; the graphic gets distorted.

    I have found that I can achieve it in Photoshop instead.

    It would be great to have a dedicated Shrink Sleeve Label / Wrap-around Mode for Graphics.

  10. Glow texture not showing up

    I'm using a Mixamo model that has multiple texture passes including glow. However, I have imported the glow pass in the texture channel, but there is no glow showing up in Dimension or the final render.

    I tried a workaround, by putting sphere's with a glow texture on them, but the edges of the eyes are rendering jagged.

    Is there something I can do? Or is this a future functionality?

  12. Recover crashed file

    Ok Adobe, for the umpteenth time, we need a system in place to save our work in the event that an unsaved work crashes or freezes. Today I lost yet another project that I spent MANY hours on. This is crucial. It has been years since somebody on your team responded to a request about this from 2017 - saying that this is in the plans.

    It is 2020, where is it?

  13. Better shape controls

    I love the new shapes with controls, really helpful.
    But there are a few more basic things missing that would make them really powerful.

    1/ Being able to give each corner a radius. So you could make a more rounded square, or make teardrop shapes with this.

    2/ Adding the hollow cube, pipe and hollow sphere to the basic shapes. Giving them more control of wall thickness would be great.

  14. Macro function for repetitive task

    One feature request is macro fiction for repetitive task, like applying label to bottle etc. It will save time.

  16. Dimension Icons/Photos Glitching

    Does anybody know why Dimension is having the icons and images glitch like this? I have a wildly powerful PC with both graphics and CPU so I'm not sure what is happening. I have uninstalled and re-installed already as well.

  18. Toggle to use model's original axes to scale, rotate, and position

    Dimension needs a toggle to use the original model geometry as the basis when making changes in the properties inspector. What I mean is, if I change the X scale from 0.1 to 1.0, then rotate X 90-degrees, then change the X scale from 1.0 to 2.0 the object should be 20x the original OBJ geometry on its X axis. That's not what actually happens. Right now, what happens is if I scale or rotate a model, then scale or rotate again, the changes are relative to its current position in the scene, meaning I can't replicate operations on multiple…

  19. Support for eGPU (external GPU)

    I'm running on a mac Mini that meets all the system requirements with an eGPU that also meets the system requirements. Every time I start Dimension I get an OpenGL error message. If I start without the eGPU running I can start the program just fine. Then I can start my eGPU and even use it to speed render times. I would like to not have to go through this unnecessary step every time I start this program.

    Dimension has never been tested with eGPUs. There’s probably no reason we can’t support them, just haven’t today. At this time we don’t have immediate plans to add this to our testing coverage, but I’ll bring it up to the team and will update here if we start work on it!

    A note, it’s not actually expected that plugging in the eGPU afterwards would change anything. Dimension selects the GPU at launch and once selected doesn’t change. I’m very curious about the performance change, but if it’s actually using the eGPU that is not by design.

  20. Spinners, nudging, units

    Can we have spinners for dimension/scale/etc. changes? Right now you have to actually type a number in each field. Spinners are used in 3DS, and they save lots of time.

    Is it possible to nudge the maps? Nudging is standard in other Adobe apps.

    Is there a way to permanently set the units to our choice instead of it defaulting to metric each time?
