Select Same (Material)
Illustrator has a handy function that could be very useful in Dimension. When a single vector object is selected, you can click on the "Select" menu and choose "Same". Then you can choose a whole bunch of different attributes such as appearance or Fill Color or Stroke.
I would like to select a single part or object in Dimension and choose Select Same Material and have it select all the objects with the same material.
I know I can group all the objects with the same material together. I do that now as a work around. It would just be…
4 votesThis is a great idea and definitely something we can do. I’m marking it as under review and will discuss with the team!

Copy & paste of camera views between different DN files
Copy & paste of camera views between different DN files. Currently, there's the only option of bookmarking camera views. It would be great to be able to copy and paste those bookmarks when opening different DN files.
Another way would be to have the option to export the camera views or when drag&drop DN files into the Dimensions UI, to have a pop-up to check what you want to import: models, lights, cameras.
2 votesThis should be fairly straightforward! Thank you for submitting the idea.

Don't Ask Users to Post their Dimension.log File on feedback.adobedimension.com
When Dimension crashes, it tells the user to submit a bug report via the Provide Feedback menu item, and to submit their Dimension.log file when doing so. The Provide Feedback menu item redirects the user to this site, feedback.adobedimension.com, where posts are publicly visible. By asking users to submit their log file, Dimension is asking it's users to expose the following information to the public:
userId
firstName
lastName
email
countryCode
displayName
accountTypeThis information should be kept private. Dimension should not ask its users to expose this information about themselves.
1 voteThank you for the feedback! The feedback button is supposed to have an in-app mechanism for attaching the file, which seems to not be working.
On this website feedback.adobedimension.com there is a “Contact Us” which you can use to send attachments privately.
We do not recommend attaching log files to forums.

Workspace
Maybe Dimension can have a setting where you can personalize your workspace and change the color of the workspace.
1 voteDimension supports “Light” and “Dark” UI modes in the preferences. It’s certainly possible to allow more personalization, but having details on what you’d want to customize is helpful!

Shrink Sleeve Label / Wrap-around Graphic Mode
I am working on a sleeve label design for a rounded bottle. In Dimensions, the graphic decal modes don't allow to warp seamlessly the design around the bottle.
This feature works on flat cylindrical models like the drink can included, but not in rounded objects; the graphic gets distorted.
I have found that I can achieve it in Photoshop instead.
It would be great to have a dedicated Shrink Sleeve Label / Wrap-around Mode for Graphics.
3 votesThank you for the exceptional and detailed feature request! Very clear on what you’d like to see here. It’s possible and seems like something that would be great in Dimension.

Support for eGPU (external GPU)
I'm running on a mac Mini that meets all the system requirements with an eGPU that also meets the system requirements. Every time I start Dimension I get an OpenGL error message. If I start without the eGPU running I can start the program just fine. Then I can start my eGPU and even use it to speed render times. I would like to not have to go through this unnecessary step every time I start this program.
2 votesDimension has never been tested with eGPUs. There’s probably no reason we can’t support them, just haven’t today. At this time we don’t have immediate plans to add this to our testing coverage, but I’ll bring it up to the team and will update here if we start work on it!
A note, it’s not actually expected that plugging in the eGPU afterwards would change anything. Dimension selects the GPU at launch and once selected doesn’t change. I’m very curious about the performance change, but if it’s actually using the eGPU that is not by design.

French keyboard shortcuts
I have a "default french shortcuts" issue on the new camera behaviors :
I like it a lot to have top, right, left view, assigned to 1234, except, by default, on a standard french mac keyboard, top row is dedicated to &é"'(§è!çà). You can press shift to get 1234… but that means alt-2 becomes alt-shift-2 on a laptop, and it becomes way less practical as a 2 fingers shortcut.
I've also recently discovered the pref menu, so I know i should be able to edit this, but:
1. if you make a "french keyboard default setup", that would really help. …1 voteThank you for the suggestion! I’ll bring this up with the internationalization team, it’s something new for us so we don’t have a precedent here, but I’m sure possible!

Camera Lens options
I'm doing renders and wanting to emulate a 50mm Canon FD lens that I have in my kit. It occurred to me that Lightroom has all of the details on every one of these lenses AND the distortion/vignetting that those lenses apply to the image.
Proposal:
Add lens options to the camera feature to enable us to replicate existing lenses. This would include the option of adding lens distortions (this is especially valuable in renders with high-dof where rendered objects are out of focus and near the edge of the frame where barrel distortion would change how the focus appears) …
12 votesThank you for the suggestion! This sounds like something we would want to add in the future.

Replace Materials from Sketchup
I import Sketchup Scenes and would like a easy overview of my allready existing materials that I can replace quickly with the dimension materials. At the moment I have to pull in every material on every face which is quite a pain if you have for example a hundred chairs.

Facebook 3D photos - PLEASE!
I do a lot of product photos, would love to be able to generate what is needed to make the new Facebook 3D photos.

Decals as smart objects when rendering to PSD files.
One of my client has multiple products with the same bottle but different labels. I'm not sure if this is possible, but it would be nice to explore having the decal of a rendered model become its own smart object when rendering to a PSD file. Switching the image in the smart object out for each new product as opposed to rendering the same products over and over with a different label would be a real time saver.
18 votesThanks for the suggestion! I’d love to know here if rendering was faster would you prefer smart objects in Dimension so you can place the new graphics in 3D? The reason I ask is mostly because if we bake the materials and lighting down to 2D there’s a bit more limitation on what you could do with the PS smart object. For example replacing the packaging label wouldn’t update to show in reflections or refractions in the rest of the scene. Is that an okay limitation?

Select material and cut-paste a new geometry
I would LOVE to be able to make a selection from a material's placement and then copy paste the geometry as a new object.
I happen to find that going from geometry to material back and forth is a bit tedious, So I'd rather "ungroup" my geometry and make it easier to change.
Having a right click option on a placed material to "make a selection from the material's placement" (= which means I already once on this project made that selection with the magic wand), or, second option "make a new object from the material's placement selection, and cut…
2 votesThis should be very feasible. We do allow you (as of Dimension 2.2) to copy/paste selections of geometry into new objects. Right now the selection method is using Magic Wand, so if your material application is the same as a magic wand selection then you could do this today.
For a future enhancement we can add a way to select the polygons a material is assigned to.

Scene Panel Sorting & Filtering
Under 'scenes', want way of making the menu alphabetical ,for sure, but also perhaps date modified. Sometimes there are too many and it's very boring looking for things which because you're zoomed in, you don't want to find by looking at the object then clicking.
1 voteWe’ve started some discussion around adding scene panel sorting & filtering. Not sure if we’re doing it (yet) but actively discussing!

More Precision and Placement Options for Decals
A way to fix UV mapping or the ability to choose specific faces to apply decals to. I'm working with complex shapes and decals are currently not cooperating with me
52 votesHello! In our next release we’ve added automatic UV generation and error fixing so if you have a model with no UVs or that we detect UV errors you’ll get a prompt to resolve the issue.
This process is currently fully automatic and we are not yet adding manual UV mapping and controls. Once the new feature is out we’ll continue to evaluate providing manual custom UV controls.

Window title to include filename
The title is just a static "Adobe Dimension"
This makes using automatic time tracking software impossible to decipher what file was being worked on.
Should be an easy addition
1 voteThank you for the suggestion. This is not something we’ve currently been looking into, but I will mention it to the design org who handles the larger application frame UI and UX.

Height Map Input
We already have Normal Map, Roughness, and Metallic. The addition of a Height Map input would be great to add more detail and make more realistic / defined materials. With just the Normal Map input it feels restricting on the level of detail for material textures.

More book/magazine models, more paper materials
As a graphic designer and illustrator wanting to create mostly mockups of books, picture books and magazines it would be extremely helpful to have more models (all of them have to many pages for picture books) and more paper-like materials to choose from. I haven't found a slightly rough paper structure (cardboard paper is too rough, glossy paper is too glossy) yet, yet this is a material that I'd probably use all the time.

Object Variations
It would be awesome to be able to create multiple “product configurations” that can be setup for easy rendering. For example, take a product packaging scene that needs many different textures for multiple product label versions/locales/languages/etc. Currently, each variation must be rendered out by hand individually, and there is no way to batch anything at the moment.
In this scenario, each camera "render view" would still be the same, but the textures, materials, models, environment, etc. could all change.
Take a look how Onshape and Keyshot handle their configurations. Onshape's configurations, though a CAD package, is incredibly powerful!
1 voteVariations for objects is tentatively planned, but not something we’re working on just yet.

Don't allow file open to Interrupt render
When many windows are open and rendering is happening to a file in the background it is too easy to interrupt the render by double clicking on a .dn file. Can you give an alert box to prevent interrupting the render in progress?
3 votesThank you for this observation, and I’m sorry for the render progresses you might have lost due to clicking on a Dn file.
We will try to make sure there is a warning to let you know whenever a render might be interrupted. Thanks for the great feedback and let me know if you have any other issues! -
Targa import
Targa is a very common format for texture maps. You can open them in PS and convert to PNG/JPEG but it would be nice to have them work with Dimenion right away.
