Hey all, just wanted to give a little update on Animation for Dimension. We believe animation is an important part of working with 3D and do plan to include animation features in the future, however it will not be for 2019. Likely this will start in 2020 but I’ll update as we get closer!

can't wait for this!

It's 2020....anything yet?

Love working with Dimension - curious if there are any updates regarding animating a camera. Would love to be able to export the final video sequence with an alpha channel if possible.

I also can't wait for the release of the animation function 😁

The spinning of a 3D object via on screen rotation has a lot of applications. Either via SIRV or in Premier Pro, one might wish to create a video clip of an object rotating under light. I have done one by making 90 individual renders, rotating the object 4 degrees each time. That's fine, but it means 90 times I've had to come back to the machine and ender new rotation, image name, and press render. There should be an option to set the object, the axis of rotation, and the number of increments within a circle, click 'go' and have the 90 or 360 or whatever pngs in a folder after it's complete.
I would use this a lot, as would plenty of people using this for product images.

FBX import all the way.... looking forward to seeing what the next update looks like & hoping that we have scope to bring motion into such a great renderer....

Any update on the addition of animation for Dimension? This would be pretty awesome!

Being able to export an mp4 of a bottle, box, or object rotating would be super cool. Even if there were some basic built-in options to rotate 180, 360. Beyond that tho, being able to rotate a lid off a pill bottle or have the pop tab on a soda can open would be awesome!

Yes, yes, yes please!

Being able to import animations from 3d Content Creation tools (3ds Max, Maya, Blender etc.) through .fbx would be a good start. Using Dimension to easily export models for the web, that is about the only time I would this software for rendering of any kind. Any updates on timeline since your April 3rd post?

Animation in 360 of 3D Objetcs.
Once the model is fisnish some clients want the model to rotate in his own pivot in 360 to see all the angles of the object.

maybe a turntable animation with one folder for png frames and one assembled final movie file when rendered, like in the program key shot.

Specific animations for each object
Jeppe Bach Jakobsen commented
Simple animations with keyframes. Maybe integration with After Effects.

This is an incredible app, id like to see animation options, movie export, modifiers and being able to change polygons and faces (full modelling facility)
Do you have that in mind for the next releases?
Morgan Caldbeck commented
And yes, being able to use on websites for interactive pages would be great!
