Show HDRI IBL in Background
When you apply a spherical HDRI image to the background, there should be an option to unfreeze the image so when you orbit, the background changes with it.
additionally, if an HDRI is chosen, it would be handy to have sliders in the options bar that allow you to change the image rotation, and scale. See attached concept
Thanks for the suggestion. We’re adding an option to use the IBL as the background, but sounds like you want to use a seperate spherical background image, correct?

any news on this? i find it surprising Dimension does not support this in 2021.
Just for reference of what it *could* be, here are a few screenshots of the same IBL presets in other 3d software (in this case Modo):
All these are literally just one click away from each other - well, plus some fishing for good camera angles. But the inclusion of the background panorama gives it a much more complete look than just loading the HDR for reflections and lighting...
It's a very low hanging fruit.
The content is already there.
And it's a big payoff.
I completely agree.
Matter of fact, all the IBL presets already include a high-res panorama specifically made for this purpose. Some of them are up to 16k (16384 x 8192 pixels) so you get a clean sharp background wherever you point the camera. I was the supplier of them, so I know that for a fact all my 200 presets have them included.
Currently they are downloaded as part of the IBL package, but ignored by Dimension. I believe showing them would make a huge impact, visually. Because then you could actually see that these presets are real locations and there is a huge variety of ready-made backgrounds in there.
Thanks for the details, definitely helps. I've forwarded this to our lead designer (he's working on some of this area right now) so we'll see what we can do. :)
Correct, but I think more important would be more control/adjustments to the background image...
i.e. A user might like a particular camera angle on their model, but might want to rotate the IBL image background to their liking.
