Displacement / Height map support
Would love the addition of Displacement maps so we can get some added details out of certain models. Would add a lot of realism for an otherwise flat world of extras beside normals.
Hey everyone! Today we announced the release of a new app – Adobe Substance 3D Stager.
Stager builds on the foundation of Dimension but has a completely reworked infrastructure and is built for pro audiences.
Stager includes a new material model that provides a ton of new controls including displacement and tessellation.
In addition Stager’s material model supports sheen, clear coat, anisotropy, subsurface scattering, dispersion, and much more!

Totally agree with this! Height gives so much more to a material whilst working in 3D, otherwise everything ends up looking so flat.

I've been excited for this ever since I noticed the Height and Height Scale properties being teased in the material properties user guide.
It's hiding right there under my nose!
This would be one for the Adobe Capture page, but if/when Dimension and the Capture app have the ability to play with height/bumps/etc, sheets gonna get real.
(I'm suprised this one isn't getting more attention!)

Add bump maps for truly realistic rendering
Enable thes bump maps to be converted into physical mesh displacement like in PS for truly realistic 3D printable models
Awesome, I can't wait! For a lot of Textures, this is what takes it over the top for realism. I've been using MIXER lately and the textures look amazing in the software but when I export to use in Dimension, it loses a lot of its realism due to no Displacement/Height map.
Unfortunately I do not pay for Substance. Does Dimension support the Displacement map?

Steve, with the latest release, and after building a lot of materials libraries FROM stubstance, now you can have real substance materials directly INSIDE Dimension :) Just some of these settings are/aren't exposed :)

They already have normal maps. I feel the addition of Height Maps would be most beneficial. Height maps have adjustments that Normal maps aren't capable of producing in the final render.

We already have Normal Map, Roughness, and Metallic. The addition of a Height Map input would be great to add more detail and make more realistic / defined materials. With just the Normal Map input it feels restricting on the level of detail for material textures.

I know how to create a normal map from a bump in photoshop, but bump maps are easier to create and edit, because of that some workflows works better if you don't have to always convert bump maps to normal. Knowing how a render works it would be quite easy to add bump mapping.

Felix uses PBR textures so your bump is held in the normal map. If you don't have a normal map for your texture you can easily create one in photoshop. Just open your base color texture, go to filters>3D>normal this will open a separate dialogue box where you can adjust your normal map. Once you are happy with the normal map (its default settings are usually pretty good) export the normal map (PNG seems to work very well) import this to the normal map in Felix and you will see your bump mapping.

I am able to import an .obj file into Felix, and apply the texture I created to the color channel, but do not see an option for including a bump map or displacement map. Is this option available?
