Apple Silicon (Mac M1) Support
In 2020 Apple announced that they would be transitioning to their custom silicon for Mac devices.
Adobe Dimension should run on these devices.
Hello everyone! I’m very happy to say we have not only gotten M1 Rosetta emulation working for Stager but were also able to quickly get it working on Dimension as well.
For anyone who is interested in early access to help us test this version of Dimension or Stager, please use this invitation link to down the build from our prerelease program:
I want to apologize again for the extremely long wait on this topic, and thank you for your patience.
If you have any issues using the builds, please leave a comment on the prerelease program forums so we can track the issues!
If all goes well we will roll this out officially in September as new Dimension & Stager releases.
We are waiting. Thousands of great designers in this community and also your customers are waiting. We are waiting! Please tell us the exact time as soon as you read it!!!!!!!!!!
When 3D Stager is going to be available on M1 Macs? Please tell us an exact time! We need it. I still love adobe not because it doesn't respect the customers but it makes the impossible possible. Please tell us the exact time for just the emulation mode of 3D Stager for M1. Thanks!
When 3D Stager is going to be available on M1 Macs?

When we told you that we were hard at work making Dimension work with Apple Silicon, we were lying. Nobody was or is working on that. We know you're going to be angry, so instead of saying outright we're dropping Dimension; we'll say, "Support for for Dimension is unknown at this time."
We know that when we bought Substance, you hoped we'd bundle it into your Creative Cloud subscription. We were never going to do that. Why would we? We paid a lot of money for that. Instead we've developed a group of Substance apps that we're charging separately for. Don't you see? We have to kill Dimension to push you to pay up for the Substance app package.
What about support for Apple Silicon? Remember our history of ignoring Apple's notifications to developers about evolving technology. Remember how we held onto Flash? Remember how slow we were to move to 64 bit? We were kinda hoping the M1 thing was a hoax.
We're focused on getting you to pay up for the Substance apps, and we know Mac users are a very significant chunk of our customer base; so we'll eventually get around to reluctantly supporting them on Apple Silicon. Don't hold your breath for Dimension.

Geeeeeez, I totally get it. But why offer all that you did without having a M1 option as well? If you can't use Dimension and you can't use the new Stager then geez what do you tell clients? Hang on for a few months while I learn Blender? Beta at least, Covid sucked alone and now the little I could do is ruined. GEEEEEEEEZZZZZZ

This is absolutely ridiculous. Adobe wants us to pay for All Apps subscription to use Dimension and now they want us to pay extra to use Substance Stager? We want M1 native support for Dimension.

I am sorry but an additional $40/month on top of what we already pay for the full Creative Cloud.....I dont think so. This is ridiculous. I had a feeling Adobe had no intention of updating Dimension to be available for the M1 chip computers. I agree with another poster that if Stager is meant to replace Dimension then it should be included in the subscription.
Given that Apple are moving all Macs to Apple Silicon within the next year, what you're saying is you're unsure if Dimension will be available for Mac users?

I hate to have to state this plainly, but Adobe Dimension was promised, and that it was being worked on... Well, you would assume that. I assumed it was, because... well, I'm dumb, right? I feel dumb.
This cost me business and reputation. I am crestfallen that Adobe still doesn't take their reputation and trust honestly. This is my third time on this merry-go-round, the first two were Freehand and Fireworks.
I hate, I really, truly hate, when I feel stupid for trusting.
This has been really really bad. These are peoples livelyhoods and reputations.
Since we are supposed to pay extra for this product, please just be honest.
It's rare to meet a product launch for a software you've been excited for and you've evangelised a lot and... you feel screwed, and you feel that you should not invest time, because you cannot trust this company.
I bought the M1 because dimension crapped out on my 2015 mac, and adobe's main site was vague on compatability.
Again. Trust. It cost you trust when you futz and when you lie by omission.
Anyone who has taken on responsibilities because of trust in Dimension as a product must now use exponentially more complicated and expensive products to deliver on that misplaced trust.
If adobe had been honest, us who lost in the computer lottery and had to replace hardware in this weird period, we could have saved the ire for apple.
Adobe needs to figure out how to do the PR here, and that means finding ways to communicate honestly, based on a knowledge of the basic needs of working clients.
There is a growing movement of people who actively try to push competing software, simply because adobe controls too much of the market.
These few months made me feel like freelancers like me don't matter. Not beause the software didn't materialise. But because you couldn't just be honest. That would have been enough.
Some of us teach graphic design too, and while we're to stuck in this adobe mess, we can at least teach the kids why supporting the Affinity suite and other competing products is an investment in their job security.
Or you could just be honest.

wish I would have read this thread before dropping the $40/month.... maybe I missed the part about not having access to dimension or stager on my MBP M1 when signing up for it.
Stager looks great, not sure about paying and extra £40 a month on top of my CC subscription for it though. If Stager is a replacement for Dimension, why not include it in the CC package as well as the Substance package? For packaging design, Dimension/Stager with integrated Fantastic Fold and CC Library would be a game changer for me, but I'd hardly touch the rest of the Substance collection.

OK, that's fine, but-- will Adobe Substance 3D Stager be included in Creative Cloud? If not, I'm out.

Nevermind, I bought a Huawei Windows Laptop as additional, I can do Dn work by that device.

The more I waited for an update it has forced me to learn blender (Free 2), I was very happy with AD but life moves on. Please be straight with us designers we pay for this app in our monthly subs.. Our pay comes also from apps like this.

Any update on the availability on Mac M1??????????????????? PLEASE
Justin Plunkett commented
Maybe they're working on it day and night and can't spare the two minutes to update us... or maybe the Dimension dev team were fired for non-existent comms and they are really struggling to find replacements.

Is there any news on this at all? This is so frustrating. I hope they really are working on it.
