Extrude Vectors as 3D Shapes
Extrusion is a technique where a flat 2D shape or surface is pulled out to give it depth. Vector extrusion would allow users to import vectors as paths, then extrude those paths into 3D shapes. This would include some additional parameters like hard or rounded corners.
346 votesHey all! We’re taking a look at adding extrusion to Dimension later this year. We’re combining this with a text tool and hope to support vector/text extrusion later this year. I’ll update here as we progress!

Package Design - Create 3D Model from Dyeline/Blueprint
I'd like to be able to build a product package from a dieline created in Illustrator, fold it along specific lines, give it a UV gloss on parts, add foiling and embossing where required.
239 votesHello everyone! Thank you so much for your patience and interest in this idea over the last several years. At Adobe MAX 2018 we demoed a technology called Project Fantastic Fold, and over the last year we’ve been working on bringing that into reality.
I’m pleased to say we’re opening our first private beta for Project Fantastic Fold, a tool for interactively folding dielines into 3D models.
The private beta requires you to join the Prerelease. If you’re interested please head to https://www.fantasticfold.com/ and sign up for the beta program!

Create Original Models
Capabilities to model original objects
171 votesHello everyone! I wanted to thank you for a lot of patience on the topic of creation and modeling in Dimension. I thought I’d provide a small update here.
Dimension 3.2 just released with our first native creation features, including text and basic shapes.
In the future we do expect to have some more creation like vector extrusion and lathing, but don’t have a release timeline for that yet.
I will l say we are also working on some cool mesh editing capabilities, so you can customize models instead of having to start from scratch.
I hope to update here soon with more progress, but in the mean time, I hope you enjoy text and shapes!

Combine/Subtract Models (Booleans/Pathfinder)
Booleans are the 3D equivalent of pathfinder, allowing you to take two shapes and combine or subtract their volumes from each other. For example, taking a cube then using a cylinder to 'cut' a hole through the cube.
138 votesHello everyone! The Dimension team is very interested in the topic of creation/modeling/editing as a whole. We haven’t added any creation so far, but are actively researching this area. We have a new survey on modeling and editing and would love your thoughts on the topic!

3D Model Effects (twist, bend, shatter)
Effects are used on a model to change the basic shape in some manner. Common examples are twist, bend, and shatter.

2D > 3D Modeling (Lathe, Extrude, Loft)
Similar to conventional 3D software, Felix should have the ability to create 3D images from 1/2D wireframes. ie. a 1D line is drawn (a circle), the 1D drawing is filled to create 2nd dimension. The 2D shape is then scaled from surface to create a cylinder (3rd dimension). This offers a much more methodical and flexible approach to creating wireframes/models. Further example: using a series of curved lines to create a tapered bottle wireframe (like a shampoo bottle that is crimped at the top). The user is then able to then create a mesh that follows this curved lines >…

Cut Tool to Split Models
There needs to be a way to cut or splice the model to create points that can be stretched, rotated or moved from the object separate from the rest of it.

Object Deformation Puppet Warp
Puppet warp tool: would allow to deform objects easily.

3d Capture Scan Object in Capture CC App
How about make "capture" able to capture 3d models? Like the 3d max one could some years ago?

Edit Object Points / Vertices
ability to move points of an object, and create objects similar to the pen tool in illustrator

Add "Cut-Paste" from one .dn file to another.
The fact that I have to recreate any unique objects I build rather than simply copying them into new projects costs DAYS of time. It is a crippling deficiency in Dimension and it's shocking this is not given the highest possible priority since it is a fundamental feature in all other Adobe products. PLEASE fix this.

cross section
Is there any plans to include cross section feature? that can be very helpful to built empty boxes from any object.
5 votesHi!
Thanks so much for your feedback, and for using Dimension!
Cross section of 3D models seems like a great idea to visualize complex objects/interiors and assign materials to them.
I’d love to understand more about your idea of using cross sections. Could you give some examples of how you would use this feature? -
Generate Hair and Fur
is it possible to create fuzy/fur covered objects? i have a 3D puppy and it needs to be fluffy.
5 votesAt the moment it is not possible to create fur and hair systems in Dimension (realistic hair strands). For a flat texture or hair planes, these are things you would create in another modeling system and import with the item.
Since this is an idea based forum, please only post suggestions. I will edit this one to be a proposal for hair/fur generator.

Chamfer Corners
More controls of objects such as truncating corners.

Ability to slice an object with a plane
For instance, I'd like to take a sphere and chop it in half (hemisphere) or possibly slice some other object at a particular angle.
5 votesThanks for the suggestion! Are you creating abstract art type of things with this? Is there something in particular you’re trying to build?

Better shape controls
I love the new shapes with controls, really helpful.
But there are a few more basic things missing that would make them really powerful.1/ Being able to give each corner a radius. So you could make a more rounded square, or make teardrop shapes with this.
2/ Adding the hollow cube, pipe and hollow sphere to the basic shapes. Giving them more control of wall thickness would be great.
Keep up the ace work!

Create and Render Fire Effects
Why is there no way to make fire?!?!!?
4 votesThanks for the suggestion! Fire is a pretty complex force, something we’ll keep in mind is these types of generated effects (fire, water, other particle or simulation based effects) but it’s probably a while down the road!

3D Path / Curve Support
3D paths / curves (splines that curve in 3D space - not flat vector shapes)
