Have the ability to choose a 3rd party tenderer such as Lux renderer.6 votes
Great suggestion – any particular reason why you would want to use Lux or your specific 3rd party renderer?
Option to export background panorama created from flat image. It is visible now is Environment Light slot (see attachment).
Based on documentation, Dimension uses Content Aware Tool known from Photoshop. It could be impemented in Photoshop as filter as well, as it is very useful feature for every designer working in 3D environment.5 votes
Have render preview SETTINGS, the live render times are really bad, especially on heavier materials such as glass.
If there could be like most 3D programs a setting for render previews like wireframes, or quarter and so on, this will speed up the updating proccess.

Thanks for the suggestion! We plan on enhancing the canvas and render preview views this year and will definitely be exploring.
My 5 year old Mac has been rendering for two hours and has done only 4% of a 2000 x 1200 pixels image with no more than 4 objects. Maybe an overview would be nice, showing supported machines with examples of render time, based on a simple lay-out in comparising with a complex lay-out5 votes
This is a really interesting suggestion and something we’ve been considering. There are so many combinations of hardware that it’s hard to do a general overview. However, we are adding information about what types of things impact render times. The primary things are:
Also, effects like reflections or lots of objects bouncing light off each other, etc. There will definitely be more as we expand our features.
It would be really nice to be able to use a pinch-zoom feature on my mouse pad, much like I can in Illustrator and like-products.5 votes
I like to see a sample level indicator on the render & render preview so progress can be checked on. Also the ability to have the render stop at a specific sample level.5 votes
Thanks for the suggestion. We’re definitely looking at exposing some of the other render settings such as time, quality or sample levels.
This would be really nice to have the ability to turn the workstation to the sleep mode after the rendering process is done.4 votes
Thanks for the idea! This is may be possible, but not something we’re currently planning on doing.
It might be interesting compatibility with HDR Light Studio to manage and generate a set of more professional lights.4 votes
Would like to be able to script adding objects to a preset scene - maybe pass a file for the preset scene and a file for the item(s) to import then get a render out. Ideally this would work without launching the GUI so that batches of exports can be created automatically.
The use case for this is users online designing a product (in this case a guitar) by choosing a bunch of options, then we'd like to produce a high quality render at some point after, from their design.4 votes
When many windows are open and rendering is happening to a file in the background it is too easy to interrupt the render by double clicking on a .dn file. Can you give an alert box to prevent interrupting the render in progress?3 votes
Thank you for this observation, and I’m sorry for the render progresses you might have lost due to clicking on a Dn file.
We will try to make sure there is a warning to let you know whenever a render might be interrupted. Thanks for the great feedback and let me know if you have any other issues!
Ability to render to webgl to incorporate into json.3 votes
Hello! The Dimension team is gathering some feedback around various export requests. If you’re interested in providing more detail on your request for exporting workflows, please take a moment to fill out the following brief survey:
The rendered file should take on the name of the native Dimension file by default.3 votes
More flexibility and light control. Positioning is needed other than rotation.2 votes
We’re investigating making lighting more robust and exposing sIBL components for more control.
The render quality is great, would love more control of colors and effect.2 votes
Is it possible to add Label mask to Material Selection Masks layer within rendered psd?
Currently, a rendered psd has Material Selection Masks and Object Selection Masks layers. None of them display label mask if label is applied and rendered.1 vote
It should be possible to provide a selection mask in Photoshop that has the outline of the decals or graphics applied to a model.
It would be nice to be able to toggle render options on and off per object like...
1. primary visibility
2. visible in reflections
3. visible in refractions
4. casts shadows
5. receives shadows
6. emits GI
7. receives GI
These options should be available when you click on the 3D object and see the transform info on the right side of the window. Maybe there is another tab with render options? I would imagine that features like this could reduce render time and allow for that extra customization you cant get in real life.1 vote
Thanks for the great suggestions! We do have visibility toggles planned, but I’d love to know more about some of your other requests – any examples of the types of workflows you’d be using those in?
