    Happy Monday, October 15th, everyone! Today we released an update to Dimension CC – the 2.0 release! This update includes…. multiple decals! I know it’s been a long time coming, so thank you for your patience.

    Just a note that the scene panel got some UI updates, so materials no longer show as part of the primary scene object list. Instead, click on the right-hand arrow next to the object to ‘dive’ down into it’s appearance section. Then you can see all of your graphics in a layer-based system for reordering!

  2. Material Transformation (Tile, Rotate, Scale)

    How can we create material? How can we adjust the mapping on the material. This is quite necessary for any kind of makeup. I have been a 3D studio max user for a long time, and this software with its own simplicity can easily replace 3D studio max for me.

    Excited to say that Project Felix was just announced as V1.0 of Adobe Dimension CC. The newest release has new controls for Material scale, rotate, and offset, as well as the new Decal feature for adding images on top of the base material.

    Please post additional enhancement requests as new ideas so we can begin tracking the status. Don’t forget to search and vote!

  6. Toggle Object Visibility / Render

    If the user has more than one object in the scene, individual objects could be turned on/off for better performance.

    Example: I have two bottles and six splashes. I would like to focus on just one bottle without deleting the other 7 objects in the scene. The feature would have an eyeball (Ps) that concealed it from the render update and edit viewport.

  7. PBR based workflow / Substance Designer integration

    It would be great to see your texture inputs for materials follow a more traditional physically based rendering workflow. This is useful when creating content across different apps to keep a uniform look.
    I would love to see these attributes for each material along with what currently exists like opacity, translucence, IOR, etc..

    albedo/diffuse (flat color)
    metallic (how reflective) or specular
    roughness (how blurry for reflections) or glossiness
    normal/bump (micro surface lighting info)
    height/displacement (displaced geometry based luminance info)
    ambient occlusion
    curvature
    fresnel (reflectance based on normal)

    If this app could communicate with something like substance designer of substance painter,…

  8. Drag & Drop into Scene Panel

    Currently you can drag and drop most things into the viewport but not to the scene panel. Adding models to the scene or adding materials onto a selected model that's not currently visible or selected would be possible with drag-n-drop between the content panels and the scene panel.

    The latest release of Project Felix 0.3 – available on Creative Cloud as of July 19th, 2017 – allows you to change between color and texture without discarding the texture. As a note, once you confirm the color selection it will still discard the texture to ensure we don’t keep unused data in your file and memory which can bloat the file size and use up memory resources.

  11. Native Support for Susbtance Materials

    It would be great if you could easily import and add to the Assets panel, Substance materials built in Substance Painter / Designer.

    As of Dimension 2.2 (released April 2, 2019) we now support importing Substance materials in .sbsar format. Not all substance materials will be supported fully (for example Dimension does not yet have displacement support). We’ll continue to work on supporting more Substance material types and properties in the future!

  12. Eyedropper for sampling color for background color

    Also I have set a background image and want to match color of the background with image (have some transparent region) but their isn't eyedropper option to take color sample from image colors. IMHO that would be helpful

    Happy to say the new version of Project Felix 0.3 – available on Creative Cloud as of July 19th, 2017 – has several new sampling options available:

    1. A sampler tool has been added to the toolbar for sampling and applying materials across objects.
    2. When you open any color swatch a sampler tool is available in the color picker and can pick screenspace colors – for example material color, background color and light colorizations can all select the color from the screen in this way.

  15. Dolly should be Zoom

    I think Dolly camera shall be renamed to zoom and icon shall be changed to Magnifying glass instead, to make it more align with standard tool convensions.

  16. Apply Textures to existing UV Space

    When I am importing a model that I previously created in C4D, the textures applied in Dimension do not inherit the UV Mapping that is already present. So a texture being applied to a cylinder with a slight inclination results in the texture wrapping to an incorrect ratio, resulting in what can be seen in the attached image.     If you apply a graphic as a separate layer it uses a floating ‘decal’ projection. If you want to apply a texture to the original UVs you currently need to double click on the model to select the material then apply the texture to the base color.

    In the future graphic layers will have a fill mode that can be used to apply to the entire model. This is planned for our next release in 2019.

  17. Shotcut "Eyedropper"

    Would be awesome if you could add a shortcut for the "Sample and Replace Material"

  20. Copy Textures/Materials to Another Object

    lets be clear, the cc lib would be a better way to quickly move settings from one area to another but Fekix doesn't work with the cc lib yet so it needs some other way to save or copy textures and materials from one section to another.

    p.s, the new 2 build is a great step forward... keep it up guys!

    There is actually an eyedropper action in the material properties. Hover over the material title and you’ll see it. This copies the material and textures from one object to another.
    We do support CC Libraries as well, but unfortunately we don’t support images as textures from CC Libraries yet. Definitely something we will do!
