Usually when working on a project you open the background image from a certain folder and want to save your render to that same folder. It would be a lot easier to have the default save path be the path that you opened your background image from and ideally maintain the same filename.1 vote
Thank you for the feedback! We do plan to enhance the way file path memory is shared between some areas.
I'd like to be able to use alpha channels to make certain parts reflective and other parts matte finish5 votes
Thank you for the suggestion! I’m curious if you’ve used the existing method of creating a mask for roughness/metallic properties? If so, what are your thoughts on that workflow? How do you imagine it being different?
Currently if I modify an object the placed graphic (whether it has already be placed or will be placed later) becomes distorted, this is wildly frustrating. All I would like to do is use the plane surface and put a graphic on it and the plane be the same size as the graphic, as far as I can tell, and this includes plenty of time with support, this is not possible.12 votes
Thank you for the feedback! Just to be sure I understand, you want to first apply a decal to the object then stretch the model to match the decals size without deforming the graphic, correct?
Can we have special printing effects simulated over the packaging designs - like UV, Foil, Embossing.... it would be excellent!22 votes
Something we’re interested in exploring! I’d love to know how you’d envision this workflow, in your own words.
Booleans are the 3D equivalent of pathfinder, allowing you to take two shapes and combine or subtract their volumes from each other. For example, taking a cube then using a cylinder to 'cut' a hole through the cube.46 votes
Hello everyone! The Dimension team is very interested in the topic of creation/modeling/editing as a whole. We haven’t added any creation so far, but are actively researching this area. We have a new survey on modeling and editing and would love your thoughts on the topic!
Option to export background panorama created from flat image. It is visible now is Environment Light slot (see attachment).
Based on documentation, Dimension uses Content Aware Tool known from Photoshop. It could be impemented in Photoshop as filter as well, as it is very useful feature for every designer working in 3D environment.5 votes
It would be nice to have warp functions in the properties for images. I'm trying to wrap a coffee cup and the image curves upward and doesn't join at the two ends. If you could key stone the image it would accommodate for the conical nature of the cup shape.5 votes
Thanks for the suggestion! We’re actively working on improving decal and image workflows for models!
Snap Objects together by seecting the two faces you want to touch (snap to surface, snapy to edge, snapt to center etc)12 votes
I'd like to be able to build a product package from a dieline created in Illustrator, fold it along specific lines, give it a UV gloss on parts, add foiling and embossing where required.112 votes
Hello everyone! We’re continuing work on the dielines research and thank you to everyone who has submitted sample files so far! We’re still gathering more samples, so if you have dielines with artwork and graphics placed that you can share with Adobe (for internal research purposes only) please feel free to send me an e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org.

I’ll move it to the content section, but just wanted to be sure. :)
I would really love to be able to set up an isometric view :) (with and withouth dept of field) <39 votes
I need ability to duplicate and relection 3d element. Right now if we duplicate 3d stuff on the left and want it the same look and position on the right - reflected look. It is impossible to get the look using rotation orbit.7 votes
Great suggestion! Thank you for the detailed request.
It would be great if Dimension CC count notify my phone when a render is finished. with like a txt or an email or something....4 votes
Thank you for the suggestion, very interesting! It does pop up an OS notification, but you’d prefer something mobile as you may not be there at your workstation, correct?
Currently Project Felix has three tools for selectiong and transformation, the Move, Scale, and Rotate tools. A single tool would allow you to do some or all of the actions with a single tool with a redesigned interface.37 votes
I would like to be able to use a 360 still or video with Dimension so that when I rotate the view the background rotates in relation to the objects in the center.16 votes
I'm having a very difficult time creating new materials...
I'm currently trying to create a snake skin material, but Dimension CC doesn't support MTL files????
What is the file type Adobe Dimension uses for its materials? Dimension should import MTL files as these are very common.
Edited by Moderator: Please only post ideas in proposal formats, not questions.4 votes
Dimension uses the Adobe Standard Material which is based off of the NVidia MDL language. Our supported extension is ‘.mdl’, but it does require the Adobe Standard Material type. You can create MDLs using Substance Painter and Designer at the moment.
For MTL we do have a conversion process when importing it along with an .obj but we do not have a standalone MTL importer yet. This is something we can add though. Since this is an idea based forum I’ll edit this question to be a proposal to support importing MTL materials.
HI! Great start on this application, could be amazing.
Right off the bat, it's imperative to be able to export a label or decal separate from the object it's on. Would be a great feature - not so usable until thats there. Thanks!
Thanks for the suggestion and details! We’ll definitely keep this in mind. It was something we investigated, but couldn’t do it too easily. I’m sure we can with some more time!
It could be valuable if we can have the transform gizmo of the decal also ifor shader's texture.
It could be valuable to unlink diffuse and normal maps transformations.
Sometimes diffuse maps and texture maps don't have the same "physical" size...3 votes
Thank you for the suggestion! We do plan on enabling in-canvas manipulation of materials and individual textures. Not sure yet when that will get in, but you’ll get an update here when it’s available.
Vehicles: Would be fantastic if you could make car models available for vehicle wraps. Or at least the option to import blueprints/renderings of them.3 votes
Currently the background image is simply projected as is with some basic controls for choosing between scale modes (crop, fit, or scale). Controls would allow you to position, rotate, and scale the background image freely in relation to the camera.30 votes
- Don't see your idea?
