Import AI files
(edited by moderator: see separate idea for extruded 3D shapes from vectors: http://projectfelix.uservoice.com/forums/552559/suggestions/31410262 )26 votes
Thank you for the suggestion! We definitely plan on supporting both .ai and .svg files locally for images. Please note that there is a separate discussion for extruding shapes into 3D.
Since this is for us to notify you guys on status, let’s keep the ideas separate. This one will be for supporting the AI file type, and the other is creating 3D extrusions from vectors.

The keyboard shortcuts please as in all other CC programs, for example, undo over apple z and deleting an inserted background should be possible!5 votes
There was a mistake with the German keyboard shortcut localizations. We have submitted a request for this to be fixed to Cmd+Z / Ctrl+Z to match the other apps.
I know labels are a great addition to the Dimension, but need to increase quality. Another great addition would be the ability to render at a specific resolution.1 vote
We have some planned fixes to increase the quality for decals. For rendering, you can change the canvas size in design mode > environment properties > canvas size setting.
Make it possible to import a .obj file and then add it to the cc library so you can share it with colleauges.
When rotating a model and holding the Shift ⇧ Key, the angle should snap to some fixed degrees, like the rotation tool in photoshop.5 votes
Great suggestion and something we do want to add!
Quite often when rendering, my object stays blurry while the background renders well. This happens about half of the time, when rendering the exact same file (only changed the decal) which has rendered fine before. How can this happen?
I changed the render quality and tried both PNG and PSD, but that doesn't seem to solve the problem.
See attachment for example.1 vote
While not technically a bug, this is caused by an issue with the app.
There’s a feature called Depth of Field which lets you add blur to the render. You set it up in Design Mode in the environment properties. However, depth of field doesn’t preview in the canvas, so you have to turn on the render preview window to be able to configure it properly.
Currently there is no preview in the canvas so many users are accidentally creating renders that are blurry. I’m going to mark this as a feature request for Depth of Field in the Canvas which is something we’re going to add soon!
Being able to link images as smart objects, so that when they are updated in their source file they are updated in the scene as well.6 votes
To choose image export size1 vote
Hello! Marking this as “Planned” but you can do this currently. In Felix 0.3 just select the “Camera” object from the scene panel and then look at the properties panel. The Camera Size is located here and dictates the final output of the render.
Marking as planned because we are going to make some changes to make it easier and more discoverable, so I’ll use this to update everyone when it’s done! :)
Is there a way to make objects snap to the grid? Unreal allows you to and its really useful for spacing. Rulers would be nice too.6 votes
Snapping is definitely something we’ll be adding in the future.
I could see it being beneficial to have a pause button on the rendering process.4 votes
Thanks for the suggestion! We did in fact, used to have a pause button. But it broke so we had to kill it for a bit. :( It will return when we fix the pause mechanism!
After editing a material or adding textures to create my own it would be great to save the material for reuse in other projects.17 votes
As far as I see I cannot change the color of background or any given abstract background by drag and drop from CC Libraries. The error message is "... Felix does not recognize this type of file." So I have to type in each color individually - which can get quite tiresome.2 votes
Definitely something we’re planning, just didn’t make the first few rounds. :) I’ll update this when we’ve started work on it.
Scale dimensions need to be linked (the same way as in AI, ID or PSD). So I can scale the object proportionally.2 votes
Definitely! Adding “linked” scaling to the properties is something we’re working on. You can do uniform linked scaling in the canvas using the Scale Tool. Just use the center white pyramid control handle to scale along all 3 axises.
Here’s a 1 minute video covering the use of the move/rotate/scale tools. You can see the uniform scaling around the 40~ second mark.
Crashes Then Corrupts Original File - We NEED AUTO Backups!!
If we had automatic backups, my 5 hours of work would not be lost. Felix IS the next major player in the 3D modeling market so this is a MUST HAVE safety feature.7 votes
Hello! Definitely a great suggestion and something the team is considering heavily right now. It didn’t make our first few beta releases, but it’s on our roadmap for sure. I’ll let you know when we’re closer. :)
estimate rendering time. 5-30 mins is still better than nothing.13 votes
In the 0.2.0 release we did include a progress bar and time elapsed counter, but we want to expand this to be a true time estimate as well.
I have a book cover that is 6x9x.75. It would be ideal to have the ability to input dimensions rather than scale.
The ability to select units would be great, but to begin simply making it proportional would make it functional.24 votes
Hello all. Units and dimensions are something that are very important, and we’re looking at getting some initial feedback on this topic. We have a brief survey and are also looking for a few people willing to do an interview. In exchange we’ll provide an Amazon gift card to the interviewees. If you’re interested please start by taking the following survey and we’ll notify those who are selected for the interview portion.
i want to specify render size and dpi when rendering.3 votes
Hey all, just to be clear you can change the size of the canvas/final render. This is done in design mode. Select the environment in the scene panel and the first property of the Environment is Canvas Size. The part that is still planned is DPI controls as we currently only have pixel value settings.
Currently you have to manually line up the object to the ground plane. Felix can auto-align the camera to an image so it would be nice to auto-align the object to the plane as well.26 votes
Render view doesn't have options other than 100%
If I have a larger scene, I want to be able to see the whole view in the render mode, and/or zoom into details quickly instead of panning around to a section.9 votes
This program is useless without the ability to draw objects in scale, i.e. transformation pallette should be in metric or imperial. Make it just like Illustrator just 3D and I will switch from my current 3D modeling/rendering app.8 votes
