File May Be Corrupt - Won't Open Saved File
So this is the second time. Even though I have been saving my files from time to time, the file appears to be "unable to open document, the file may be corrupt.". WHY??? It cant just happen and make me redo my project over and over again! :(
Hello everyone! Sadly this issue has been persistent for a few years and while it usually only affects a small number of files, it’s different causes each time it comes up.
Please send your file that won’t open to us so we can investigate to firstname.lastname@example.org.
If the file is small (<20 MB) you can attach it directly.
If it is a larger file, please send via a share link to Dropbox, Google Drive, WeTransfer, OneDrive, or another file sharing platform.

I also have the problem that my file which contains 4 weeks (!!!) of work does not open because there is an error message (German version attached).
I already sent the file to "email@example.com" last week but did not get any response yet. However, we need the document very urgently at work, otherwise we can not launch our product. According to your support, a response should not take longer than 3 days, but these have already passed. Now I was told by them that I should contact the department through this post to get more detailed info. I hope you can help me here.

Yeah, you guys still haven't fixed it 4 years later. This just happened to me and it's almost 2021 now. There goes about 18 hours of work. Thanks.
AND you're ignoring us who keep telling you it is a serious problem. Thanks again. I think I'll go learn to use Blender now.

Just lost a big project to this issue this morning, am using 3.0. Submitted a ticket this am but haven't heard back. I'd like to request, if at all possible, some kind of recovery mode file, even if its just a text file with object names and spatial data. When you have to rebuild a scene the most difficult part is getting objects back to their locations and scales.

I have more than one file saved on the 3.0 version that once the program is closed, they can never be opened again, it only shows that error on the screenshot.

This has happened to me today too. However, I’m stuck on 2.2.1 because even more strangely, I cannot get 2.3 to run on my PC. The requirements are definitely met, but I get the gray canvas issue and the program will neither display any viewport in it nor will it open anything or close normally — I have to close the process in Task Manager. That being said, I’m trapped in 2.2.1 and now I’ve lost at least 1 full workday of progress because the file no longer opens — in SEVERAL versions I saved. Right before I noticed, the program stopped responding to some buttons. I could no longer pick colors for materials as the button opening the color picker would freeze. Sadly I saved, closed and tried to reinstall before I realized I should’ve copied the log and try to remove duplicated OBJs before it asks to save. But it definitely means the program was behaving strangely upon the bug occurring. It also seemed somewhat unstable and laggy, but I thought it was just pulling CPU which it tends to do.
As someone stated in this thread, it seams Dimensions does not open any file versions I’ve saved with imported OBJs that were DUPLICATED (not copy-pasted). Duplicated objects from the start elements seem to be fine. I can’t tell whether it’s all duplicated OBJs or just the ones not from Adobe Stock/Photoshop OBJ export though as I used a mix of sources, some self-made from PS, some bought from other stock sites.
Up to that point where I duplicated any non-start OBJs, the saves I made open fine, then they stop opening. THERE MUST BE something about this.
I wish I had known before or there simply was no duplicate feature if it starts corrupting my work later. It would also help if GPU support was possible, as it would reduce lag and make instability more recognizable, but that’s another story.
Now I would like to know whether there’s a chance at fixing this. Right now I cannot recommend Dimensions because of the massive bugs. I can’t even run 2.2.1 along with another version because CC will only let me have one install at once, so I go with what opens at least. Should I send several support tickets for this? One for the corrupted files and one for the program/viewport freezing on 2.3? I don’t know if I want to keep using it at this point.
For comparison: I’m on Win10 x64 with a Ryzen 5 APU on Vega 11 graphics. The Radeon driver is up to date and I’m a bit puzzled that I’m now stuck between a version that cannot open what it saved and a newer version that doesn’t even run. This PC was newly built in January and it doesn’t look like it’s having any issues besides some Adobe bugs.

Wow, this just happened to me too. Downloaded the app yesterday, saved a file today and now I can't open it. UGH.

I've just had this same issue on a new file – using Dimension 2.3 that was only installed this week.
I've emailed the log file to the tickets email address but the .dn file is almost 750MB so I can't send it anywhere.
Working on a large format stand design so definitely need to get the files back!
I had no problem while working on the file and saving it, but trying to open it to continue gives me an error.
Should this problem still be occurring?
my file is 500,000kb and It wont load. and I need it for a school project. now imma be failing that class because it wont open. help please!!

Adobe Dimensions wont recognize my files. It says I have no recent files and when I try to open a previously saved files I get no messages...it just doesnt open. Super frustrating.
Still the same problem with 1.1.0-RV version ... can't open corrupted files ... (but nice work for cloud rendering, very helpful)

I'm using the very latest release, and just encountered this issue after an immense amount of work now appears lost. I am now just learning of this problem is evidently well-known by Adobe and encountered by many. While I wasn't backing up frequently enough (my bad), the really egregious thing is that Adobe continues to market this product knowing of this catastrophic bug. It's outrageous and something I would never expect from Adobe. I don't believe this product should be made available to the paying Adobe subscribership. I'm really pissed!
So we have to wait another month and a half to be able to save and re-open a file without the software crashing?
We're targeting a release in early April, but please note that plans change and I can't promise. No forseen problems right now, but just in case. :)

Hey, had the same issue and it looks like the problem appears when you make a duplicate object. Instead of duplicate, I imported obj file again and it works.
Same problem for me ... I'm also crying while rebuilding my project (for the 3rd time)
This happened to me today. Created in 1.01. Working with duplicated .obj. I've sent all the files to the email address mentioned.
Now to go sit in the corner and cry for the 7 hours it will take me to rebuild my project.
