Well, top and what will get released are not always the same. :) GPU is one of our top priorities, it's just going to take some time. We're working on performance and improvements to the current features for our next release. You can also use this User Voice site to see what's Planned and Started.

AdminJeanette Mathews (Admin, Dimension CC) commented  ·

Yes this is definitely something that we have planned - at the moment the VRay progressive rendering is all CPU based and this is a clear area for optimization and performance boost.

Making the “Glow” option for materials actually emit light and bloom is a planned enhancement! Not sure when exactly we’ll get in, but we’ll let you know when we start on that.

Thanks for sharing! Images are always helpful and I've put in a request to allow in-line images or comment-based image attachments.

We can definitely do better with the light and are actively looking at it. :)

When you have the magic wand tool active, look just above the canvas for the tool options. One of the options for the wand is Tolerance. You can set it to tiny, small, medium, or large selections. Try reducing the tolerance size.

Can you provide a bit more detail here? What actions are confusing? Is it about moving/rotating/scaling? Or selecting the right part? Or just understanding how it's all connected?

Not at this time. If you're subscribed to an idea you'll get an e-mail notification when the status changes. We usually do status updates a few times a year, when we're done planning for a release we mark new ideas as planned, when work begins we mark them as started so you know we're working on it, and when it ships we mark it as complete so you know the build is available.

Ahhh I see! Thank you for the details. We don't support true isometric cameras yet. At the moment you can control the Field of View slider in the camera properties to get various intensities on your zooming effect. Give that a try and let me know if it meets your needs!

Dimension does not yet support vectors for 3D objects or extruding, lathing, lofting, or other modeling techniques at this time. This idea is for support for implementing it so please feel free to leave specific comments on what you want to do with extruded vectors and why it's important for your workflow.

Tiago, if you have ideas that you think would round out the program to meet those needs, we'd love to hear them. It is primarily a renderer first at the moment. The creation aspect is something we're interested in, but we have no commitment to yet.

Hey all, just to be clear you can change the size of the canvas/final render. This is done in design mode. Select the environment in the scene panel and the first property of the Environment is Canvas Size. The part that is still planned is DPI controls as we currently only have pixel value settings.

Hey all, just a note that we’ve identified a few issues with corrupt files on saving. We’re planning to release a patch in a few weeks and I’ll send an update when it’s available. In the mean time please continue to send any files with corruption so we can be sure it’s all caused by the same issue.

                          1. Verify that you created the file with the current version of Dimension (1.0). Projects made during the beta period with Project Felix or a beta version of Dimension may not work as we did not have backwards compatibility.
                          2. If you are sure your file was created with the Dimension 1.0 version please send a 1-1 ticket to tickets@projectfelix.uservoice.com and attach your saved file. If it is a large scene please use Dropbox, Google Drive, CC Files, or another file transfer service to attach the file.

                          A note on .asd: .asd…

We have isolated one cause of the issue when the file is saved with "\" in the name. However, we believe there may be more causes and are requesting you send your dimension scene file (.dn) for us to take a look. Thank you!

Thanks for the suggestion! You can rename objects and groups by double clicking on their name in the scene panel.

I’m curious about the first part of the request to merge groups into a single object. May I ask why? Is there a functional difference from a group of objects and merged objects that you see?

AdminJeanette Mathews (Admin, Dimension CC) commented  ·

Hi Dan! Yes, you can do both of those today with groups. Just select the objects you want to group then hit Cmd/Ctrl + G (or the group action in the action panel, or the menu option under Object > Group). Once you have it grouped it's easy to reselect to move them all together or apply materials to all selected objects. You can rename groups by clicking their name in the scene panel.

I'm still not sure about the original idea here about merging objects and groups though. Is it asking for taking 2 groups and making it one group? Or more about actually combining the meshes in some way?

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! We (Adobe as a whole) are considering the next generation of User Interfaces, so this is a discussion that is being taken very seriously across the company. I’d love specific examples of the things you like to dock/undock and why.

I love the AR/VR discussions. It's really getting into interacting with your content in the reality in which you'd view it, which is awesome. I can't speak too much to details yet, but there's a lot going on with AR/VR strategy at Adobe. We definitely see an AR/VR editing mode, AR/VR outputs, etc, as part of our story, but I'm not sure when that story will start to evolve.

Agreed, for Ps and Ai they work really well. Those applications have a lot of pallets. Some of the newer applications are trying to have less pallets that are more contextual, for example a single properties panel instead of properties, info, color, character, paragraph, etc and a single assets panel instead of color, swatches, materials, etc.

For example, within Felix, are there any particular pallets you'd want to reorganize, rearrange, undock, and why?

Thanks for the suggestion! The title and description are different, so I just want to be sure I understand everything.

Regarding Image Decal Import shortcut (the title of your post), you can use drag-n-drop currently. We can certainly add a keyboard shortcut as well.

Regarding the body of your idea, it seems more around having a single image with layers and being able to assign different properties to each one (like in your example if you have black and white, being able to identify that black area as transparent or not). Is that correct?

Hello! You can add your own images to CC Libraries from Photoshop, Illustrator, and most Adobe applications. You can also add models, materials, and lights that you've gotten from Adobe Stock to CC Libraries. The Assets panel is currently not customizable. Does CC Libraries meet your needs there?

Hi Ron, not sure I follow your comment. If I understand the initial post this was about being able to add 3D models into the "Assets" panel for reuse. We do support importing 3D models in .obj file format. Can you explain if your comment is the same or different?

Great suggestion - question there for you. Would you like UI that imports it to the current document scene or adds it to that assets panel for re-use? Or both!? Why?

Dimension 1.0 is available in English, French, German, and Japanese, so you should no longer have to set your language preference to English. I verified your account should have access. If you're having trouble downloading or installing, please contact the Creative Cloud support channel here:

Yes, Project Felix is English only at the moment. Laws in France and Quebec require us to provide software localized in French so this software is not yet available in France and Quebec. You can change your language preference to English in Creative Cloud to download, but again, it will not be localized at this time.

Hello all! We're looking for some volunteers to have a discussion and test session on 2D zooming in Felix. If you're interested in participating please send me an e-mail at jmathews@adobe.com. I'll be providing an Amazon gift card for participants.

AdminJeanette Mathews (Admin, Dimension CC) commented  ·

That makes sense, you've set up your view to be from a specific 2D background so rotating that view is a little counter productive. Great discussion and something we've been talking about a lot on the team actually.

                                        Hypothetically!

What if you had 2 views? What if you had one camera which was your sort of final shot which was more 2D and then a second one where you could say rotate around to look at the 3D scene.

In that scenario do you think you'd rather have one tool (Zoom Tool) that behaves differently/logically/automatically in the different views? A tool with a modifier (Drag to Dollly, Shift+Drag to Zoom)? Or do you think you'd rather have two sets of distinct tools (Zoom tool and Dolly tool)?

AdminJeanette Mathews (Admin, Dimension CC) commented  ·

Interesting discussion! I'd love to get more information here on your expectations.

Felix actually does not have any '2D' scene, so when you say you put it in the 2D scene, you've really just added background that is sort of behind your 3D camera. If I understand you're saying that once you add a 2D background you more expected it to change to a completely 2D space with 2D pan, rotate and zoom tools?

Thanks for the feedback. I'd love to know some more details on what type of improvements you'd specifically be looking for or what about it currently seems disorienting.

Backgrounds are primarily intended for compositing objects into realistic environments using the automatic perspective and lighting matching.

A render queue allows you to store multiple renders in a list and then render them all back to back. This could be done from saved camera views in a single scene or across multiple document files.
