Great suggestion. We definitely want to expose these more advanced options for 3D experienced users. Having that flexibility will be great. :)
Just as a note, RAM, VRAM, and GPU have little effect on render times as our renderer is CPU based. We are actively working on improving the rendering speeds in many ways, including looking at utilizing hardware more efficiently.

Hi Tracy! The Assets panel can't have custom assets right now and is only used to ship presets from Adobe. For custom 3D models use the File > Import > 3D Model menu item.
Hello! You can add your own images to CC Libraries from Photoshop, Illustrator, and most Adobe applications. You can also add models, materials, and lights that you've gotten from Adobe Stock to CC Libraries. The Assets panel is currently not customizable. Does CC Libraries meet your needs there?
Hi Ron, not sure I follow your comment. If I understand the initial post this was about being able to add 3D models into the "Assets" panel for reuse. We do support importing 3D models in .obj file format. Can you explain if your comment is the same or different?
Great suggestion - question there for you. Would you like UI that imports it to the current document scene or adds it to that assets panel for re-use? Or both!? Why?
We’ve fixed a number of issues regarding files becoming corrupted. The end result was the same but there were actually multiple things happening. The fixes will go live with our next release and at that time you will be able to recover most corrupted files. We can’t guarantee all will be able to be recovered though.
We’re requesting that anyone experiencing new issues still send in your corrupted .dn scene to firstname.lastname@example.org so we can verify we’ve covered all the edge cases.
We're targeting a release in early April, but please note that plans change and I can't promise. No forseen problems right now, but just in case. :)
Thank you for the example files everyone! It's been very helpful. We've isolated at least one issue and are continuing to evaluate the sample files being sent in to see if there are any other edge cases. Please continue to e-mail in files!
We have isolated one cause of the issue when the file is saved with "\" in the name. However, we believe there may be more causes and are requesting you send your dimension scene file (.dn) for us to take a look. Thank you!
Can you please expand on this idea? I’m not sure exactly what you are looking for. Details on what you’re trying to accomplish would be great!
Sure! You can e-mail it to email@example.com (if you can include a note back to this forum that'd be great so I know where it's related).
I see what you mean about not being aware of what light is currently in place when you come into the scene, makes sense!
I’ve reported this issue to the CC Libraries team.

Thank you for the feedback! We do plan to enhance the way file path memory is shared between some areas.
We’re investigating a few compositing issues with the ground plane and lighting that are causing some artifacts such as the light shadows.
Unfortunately I don't have details on how to work around it. It's a problem with Dimension itself so happens frequently on dark backgrounds, especially with reflective objects or bright lighting and we're updating our compositing methods to prevent the issue (and a few others people have pointed out!)
For the moment I've been darkening the shadows in Photoshop using the .psd export layered render and selecting the shadows with the selection layers.

Currently Adobe Stock’s 3d content is highly curated and can only be contributed by partners working with the Adobe Stock 3D team. In the future we plan to open this to more users.
At this time the Assets Panel is not designed to be customizable. We are discussing this functionality and more (there is a separate idea you can vote and comment on for customizable asset panel!).

Looks like that got merged into this one: https://feedback.adobedimension.com/forums/552559/suggestions/17436484
There are quite a few topics on lighting and yours has actually several ideas all in one post.
The prerelease and public forums are not connected in any way.
Thanks for the suggestions on multiple decals everyone! This is something we have planned. We’re also looking at better ways to support full-object wraps such as converting dielines to 3D objects directly. There’s another discussion on that idea here: http://projectfelix.uservoice.com/forums/552559/suggestions/20357320
I’d love to know if multiple decals would suit your needs or if something more specific (like the dielines to 3D) would be better.
Just getting back into the swing of things! Hope everyone had a great holiday season and got some time off.
There is a second suggestion/idea about creating 3D models directly from blueprints/dyelines/cutters/templates (various names!). You can see that here: https://feedback.adobedimension.com/forums/552559/suggestions/20357320
Please feel free to add any additional thoughts there but we are exploring both avenues at the moment.

No time estimate to share at this point on GPU rendering. We’re actively exploring but there are a lot of components and it’s not likely to happen for 2018.
I did correctly mean 2018. GPU rendering may be available late 2018 or into 2019. As some background, we are using a relatively new type of material (.MDL from Nvidia) and the V-Ray rendering engine. There's a lot of work we have to do with V-Ray to get the material fully represented. In addition we have to work with Apple since V-Ray GPU rendering is currently Windows only. There's just a lot of cross-partner work, so takes more time.
Well, top and what will get released are not always the same. :) GPU is one of our top priorities, it's just going to take some time. We're working on performance and improvements to the current features for our next release. You can also use this User Voice site to see what's Planned and Started.
Yes this is definitely something that we have planned - at the moment the VRay progressive rendering is all CPU based and this is a clear area for optimization and performance boost.

It's not something we're actively looking at right now. We still have a lot of work to do on some basics. When we start marking things as planned or started you'll get a status update to any ideas you vote and subscribe to.
Thanks for the suggestion! Definitely something we can explore.

Just to clarify, you’re asking for some sort of pop-over window that you can bring up to look at all the keyboard shortcuts for the app, right? This is something we’ve talked about internally and I think would be really helpful!
We are still considering an in-app overlay for keyboard shortcuts, but in the mean time we have added a web article (available from the Learn panel) and are working on customizable keyboard shortcuts which will list all shortcuts in the preferences.
Making the “Glow” option for materials actually emit light and bloom is a planned enhancement! Not sure when exactly we’ll get in, but we’ll let you know when we start on that.
Thanks for sharing! Images are always helpful and I've put in a request to allow in-line images or comment-based image attachments.
We can definitely do better with the light and are actively looking at it. :)
Hello! You can apply multiple materials to an object using the magic wand to select areas and then apply. Does this meet your needs?
When you have the magic wand tool active, look just above the canvas for the tool options. One of the options for the wand is Tolerance. You can set it to tiny, small, medium, or large selections. Try reducing the tolerance size.

Can you provide a bit more detail here? What actions are confusing? Is it about moving/rotating/scaling? Or selecting the right part? Or just understanding how it's all connected?
Yeah this is a VRay feature we’ve thought about. It just rounds out the edges a little bit to give them a more natural, less ‘hard’ look. I think it could be very valuable! Thanks for posting!
Not at this time. If you're subscribed to an idea you'll get an e-mail notification when the status changes. We usually do status updates a few times a year, when we're done planning for a release we mark new ideas as planned, when work begins we mark them as started so you know we're working on it, and when it ships we mark it as complete so you know the build is available.

@Byron - there is a seperate idea for effects like this. https://feedback.adobedimension.com/forums/552559/suggestions/31410337 . Feel free to vote there!
Great suggestion - why do you think this would be useful?

Can you provide a bit more detail on the options for perspective? Do you mean the actual 3D view? You can completely customize the viewing angle with the view tools (orbit, hand, dolly).
Here’s a 1 min. video on moving the view: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgEKBMtPyak&index=3&list=PLD8AMy73ZVxXbBN_8CjTaFci5FnHAjD-H&t=7s
If it’s about something else can you please provide more details?
Ahhh I see! Thank you for the details. We don't support true isometric cameras yet. At the moment you can control the Field of View slider in the camera properties to get various intensities on your zooming effect. Give that a try and let me know if it meets your needs!

Thanks for the suggestion! More format support is really important for us, so we’ll keep this in mind.
@Shane - we do support custom model import with .obj format. This topic is for supporting the SketchUp .skp model specifically.
Thanks for the use case, Tim! Always great to know about specific workflows.
