      I've just tried placing an AI file as a decal, but still get blury images in rendering.
      Do I have to increase the Background Scene resolution to get better results?

      On the other hand, does the cloud rendering use the same render engine ?

      Could it be possible to Rip the vector AI file in the cloud at render time ? In order to keep a fast preview in the dynamic viewport for adjusting the scene, and generate the HD texture in the final rendering only?.

        Hello,

        I'm a little surprise, if you are able to import the file in OBJ in Dimension you can import it also in a Slicer if the goal is to 3D print.

        I don't see how you can modify the model in Dimension that you can store in a STL file as this format don't store any material informations...

              Not sure if it is the same idea, but it could be useful to be able to cut and paste a mirrored instance of a part (for shoes as an quick example)…
              usually a scale of -1 on one axes could do the job, but not in DN...

                My Best wishes for 2019.

                about this feature, I suggest to be able to select which layer(s) is/are visible from the illustration.
                It could be intersting for different reasons.
                One you don't want all the visible layers at once:
                imagine a packaging with an allover "matte" print and a selective selection for a vernish. so you need to select the background layer for the texture of the diffuse mat material and you use another layer for the specular texture... but all in a single AI files and not multiple exports with multiple layer visibility.
                This can be achieved in Photoshop ith layer comp.
                Two some layers are there for annotations and not for viewing and or printing but you don't want to export the file twice.

                so when importing an AI file as a texture in a material it could be valuable to select the artboard as now, and next which layer_comp is activated.

                This could help also if you have in a single AI file the Normal texture , for that case we shall need to apply a PSfilter to convert B/W illustration in Normal map (as it exist in Photoshop) but this is also a request I've made in the AI uservoice

                  from Tim's post, I'm not sure that 3D pdf remains a good format for sharing 3D.
                  A live "glb" preview in a browser is so nicier with PBR rendering than the flat gouraud shading of PDF looks poor.
                  (no normal texture, no shadows...)

                  Following Mark's post, I totally agree that it is mandatory to be able to see the same file in Dn (for rendering) than the File which goes in "production".
                  It should be tedious, errorful , and time consuming if you need to generate a dedicated file for the render.
                  I gues taht with smart options like "Layer Comp" that you can manage in a single file (with multiple artboards,) all the informatyion needed for the production and for rendering in Dimension. setting the visibility of some layers for one usage and some other for the other one in dedicated "Layer compositions".

                  Even if it's not completely related to packaging only, I was wondering if it is possible to work on an Import of AI files as decals with an automatic link of some layers to texture channel.

                  In packaging, you may have some graphics or lettering "printed" and also vernished and Embossed.

                  The vernish could be handled as a mask in a dedicated layer and the Embossing as a Normal file in a dedicated layer if it could be possible to have the relevant PS filter in AI.

                  It's already faisible to select which Artwork you can use as a texture, but it should also be valuable to manage Layers (best of all should be to get "layer comps" in Ai like you have in PS)...

                  With this, it should be really easy to refine the artwork in Ai if you have only one file to manage.

                    Happy Monday, October 15th, everyone! Today we released an update to Dimension CC – the 2.0 release! This update includes support for 3 new file formats: .fbx, .skp (Sketchup), and .stl. We’ll continue to work on improving import bugs and compatibility and adding new formats.

                    Since “more 3D formats” is fairly vague I’m going to close this request and please ask that you vote on individual format listing. If you want .3ds, vote on the .3ds format support idea!

                    As "more 3D Formats" I vote for 3MF, Step and IGES (as Photoshop does) and why not USDZ ?

                    Thanks for the information, it's a very good news.
                    But can I suggest that you add to the list the new glTF file format ? as it has been added for export, and by the way could it be possible to get an option to use the Binary format (.GLB) which is more comfortable to share.

                    On the other hand, I'm curious to see how Dimension will manage UV's on IGES/Step format, and if there will be some options to manage the tessellation.

                    I agree that more neutral formats could be convenient, but what about IGES and step? If it could be cool to get those from CAD it may have an issue with Tessellation and UV for texturing this kind of files, as well for STL.

                          Thank you for the suggestion (and sharing your work). Just to be clear I understand the request you’d like to set up tiling/rotation etc. of a texture on one model, then when you use it on another model have it be effectively the same size on the screen?

                          Would that mean if the objects are different scale that the texture automatically sizes up or down for the model to maintain a consistent visual pattern?

                                    Hi everyone! I wanted to let you know that we’ve started work on supporting more file formats. We won’t be able to address all of them at the same time. Our initial new formats we’re looking to support will be:

                                    .fbx
                                    .step
                                    .iges
                                    .stl

                                    When these are available on prerelease I will post an update here with an invitation for you to come try it out! Thank you for the feedback!

                                        Hello everyone! Thank you for your votes/comments on adding .more file formats for Dimension. We are actively working on this and near completion on FBX, STL, SKP, and GLTF and are actively working on IGES and other formats. We plan to have some initial formats on our Prerelease soon, and I’ll send another update when that’s ready.

                                        For now, we’re looking for some user files to help our testing process. We have many files from other sources, but user files are the best way to make sure we’ve covered all the possibilities! If any of you have some files you are able to share with us for testing we’d appreciate your contribution!

                                        The files will be used only for the purposes of testing features. They will not be shared, sold, distributed, or used for other purposes.

                                        You can send smaller files directly to tickets@adobedimension.com (<20 MB). If…
