This is a great idea and definitely something we can do. I’m marking it as under review and will discuss with the team!

Thanks for the suggestion! We do plan to support being able to replace, update, and edit models in the future! I will update here when we start work on this.

At some point we do plan to have cloth functionality in Dimension. I’m updating the status here because we’ve actually got some progress on our physics engine with our first physics feature (drop to ground) and have some more in the works. So this has matured enough I feel like I can publically say we’ll do cloth at some point! It’s probably still a while out though. I’ll update when we’re closer to starting work on that area particularly.

We plan on adding a depth slider for decals to give embossing and debossing effects in the future. I don’t have a specific timeline for that yet, but it’s on our roadmap!

Export material to CC library is mandatory.
Export to U3M (universal material) may be useful
An error occurred while saving the comment jmlg12 commented
For saving, why not saving them in the cc Librairy, by drag´n drop ?
For applying on multiple object I agree that the Sampler tool is fine. But when you have some « placed » texture, you may need to adjust offset/orientation object by object and I guess that these parameters are attached to the material and not to the Mesh. So if you edit them for one it move on all the object section so you need to make copies... except if there is a way to link which parameters are kept in the instances.

Hey all, just wanted to give a little update on Animation for Dimension. We believe animation is an important part of working with 3D and do plan to include animation features in the future, however it will not be for 2019. Likely this will start in 2020 but I’ll update as we get closer!

Yeah this is a VRay feature we’ve thought about. It just rounds out the edges a little bit to give them a more natural, less ‘hard’ look. I think it could be very valuable! Thanks for posting!
An error occurred while saving the comment jmlg12 commented
Is that feature still under « evaluation »?
In addition, when exporting this scene in GLB, could it be possible to bake it in the Normal map layer, in order to get the effect in any GLB/USDZ viewer?
An error occurred while saving the comment jmlg12 commented
Yes, this should be really mandatory to give more realistic renderings from basic shapes.
In V-ray there was a "round corner" feature but I'm not sure if Dimension is still based on this software.

Hello,
I completely agree with this feed.could it be possible to browse the scene based on Material hierarchy instead of Geometry?
I'm in the sam e case a Big assembly with a lot of parts and want to replace the material of all the parts which share the same one. -

Even if this topic is not new, is there any update about this one?
I agree that it is possible to select manually some polygons of a shape in order to affect another material, but the process is manual. what about if the selection is already possible by a texture?
Is it possible to load it as a selection mask in Photoshop?
or is it possible to Add a shader parameter as "Visibility" beside "Opacity" ?
or can we have a particular shader which can mix 2 materials separeted by a "2D texture" or procedural one? Many Thanks

All of the models that we include in the app or sell on Adobe Stock already have UVs added, so just to be clear you’re asking for a 2D image version of the UVs that you could take into Photoshop or Illustrator, etc, correct?
An error occurred while saving the comment jmlg12 commented
Dimension is able to generate some UV if the model is missing it. But the result can be strange, so it should be nice to be able to edit those UV,s in Dimension to get something more accurate.

Hello,
My 5 cents to this feed.
It should be nice to be able to open the texture of the object in Ai with the UV Overlay as you may have in Photoshop when you edit a texture.
It could help placing the artwork on the product when the returning in Dimension
Many Thanks -

Hey everyone! I saw a good number of new questions here, so thought I’d respond to everyone with an update. Unfortunately we still don’t have true ‘vector’ support in Dimension.
Whatever ‘size’ and resolution your vector is in Illustrator is what it’s going to be applied as in Dimension. When importing to Dimension we convert it to a .png and use that.
I recommend using a minimum of about 1000×1000 size images from Ai or Ps. 2000×2000 is better. 4000×4000 is best! ;D
This quality reduction can also be cause because of the way 3D models work. The entire image you use is shared across the model and then only as a part of the canvas based on camera zoom. So you could be zooming in to part of the model and rendering it at a higher resolution than the graphic was originally.
Decal resolution can also be affected by…

Hello all! CAD import for Dimension, including STEP and STP files, is now available for early testing on our Prerelease program. You can join the Prerelease here:
https://www.adobeprerelease.com/beta/6D4BC437-A571-40B6-B398-1D29A4A13985
Remember Prerelease access is an optional beta program. Prerelease builds are for testing and feedback to the team and not intended or sanctioned for commercial use in live projects until the feature is officially released.
We’d love your feedback on the workflow so far, on whether your CAD models are importing correctly and whether you’re able to achieve the right results!

I agree with Josiah,
But when importing Step/Iges files it's important to manage the UV's accordingly.
May be the project "Anorigami" from Substance Team can help.jmlg12 supported this idea ·

Hello everyone! Thank you so much for your patience and interest in this idea over the last several years. At Adobe MAX 2018 we demoed a technology called Project Fantastic Fold, and over the last year we’ve been working on bringing that into reality.
I’m pleased to say we’re opening our first private beta for Project Fantastic Fold, a tool for interactively folding dielines into 3D models.
The private beta requires you to join the Prerelease. If you’re interested please head to https://www.fantasticfold.com/ and sign up for the beta program!

Hello,
My 10 cents to this feed to say that exporting Dimension scene to a 3D pdf file will be very disappointing.
Even if 3D pdf was a very good solution some years ago, the 3d rendering it was able to handle was quite poor. Thanks to « substance like » shaders and with the more and more acceptance of Gltf/glb files, this file format is far much more qualitative for sharing 3D scenes...
It’s quite universally supported on Win10 and MacOS even if USDZ could be a good candidate as alternative export file format.
But please, don’t ask neither to export to OBJ as MTL side-car file for handling texture supports only diffusé textures (at least a bump extra texture) but not specular, roughness, metalness, normal as Gltf is able to do.Many thanks

Hello! I’d like to understand more what functionality you’d expect from ‘layers’ in the context of a 3D scene.
Would you expect to use this primarily for organization, or would it actually behave as layers do in 2D apps where top layers would always render over back laters, regardless of 3D positioning?
I’d also love to know why you’re looking for layers specifically as opposed to what we have today. What are you trying to do you can’t achieve?

We’ve started work on displacement, height, and bump support! We have it actively working to some level and will hopefully have some testing soon. I’ll provide a status update soon!

Hello,
Any update on this topic?
Some features to help handling soft materials could be valuable for fashion and leather goods design
