Hello! The Dimension team is gathering some feedback around various export requests. If you’re interested in providing more detail on your request for exporting workflows, please take a moment to fill out the following brief survey:

Main reason for .dae is that it's a format exported directly from Photoshop's 3D files with a few practical options as export plane or object only.
Hello everyone. Excited to say we’ve started some investigations for adding text to Dimension later this year. We’re initially looking at 3D text but may also include 2D text or decal text in the future. I’ll update here as we progress!
Hello everyone! Just wanted to say we are starting work on some lighting features this year. While I don’t know the full scope of what we’ll be able to release this year yet, some areas we’re exploring are:
More directional lights (like the sun) with a lightpainting interface to create custom environment lights.
Improvements to our Match Image feature to be able to detect and generate multiple indoor lights.
Improvements to glow materials to make them more expressive.
Additions of haze, environmental atmosphere, etc.
Last, but not least, actual 3D placed light objects.
I’ll update here when we have a more scoped vision or a prototype for testing! :)
This should be very feasible. We do allow you (as of Dimension 2.2) to copy/paste selections of geometry into new objects. Right now the selection method is using Magic Wand, so if your material application is the same as a magic wand selection then you could do this today.
For a future enhancement we can add a way to select the polygons a material is assigned to.Franck Payen shared this idea ·
Unfortunately Dimension does not support displacement or height maps yet. We do have this in-progress!
Steve, with the latest release, and after building a lot of materials libraries FROM stubstance, now you can have real substance materials directly INSIDE Dimension :) Just some of these settings are/aren't exposed :)

Thank you for the suggestion! Absolutely top/back, etc. views are very helpful. Something we are looking into!
Everytime I'm doing some composition in Dimension, I see myself creating a top view camera, and more than often I also build a left view/front view in addition. Then I go back to my main camera.
Now I know how this works, and I start by creating a * star * preset, but having those under hand for ANY scene would be good.
Honestly, I think I never had a single "non demo" project where I would not move objects on a plane AT FIRST.
Then of course, I'll setup a camera and tweak things in 3D space to avoid graphic knots.
I suppose default storing of a top + left view doesn't make an heavier default file :)
(PS : Sorry, I can't edit my first post from the app).

Hello everyone! I hope you’ve had a great holiday season. We’re just getting back from the break and I’m excited to say we’re moving forward with some great research and design on our dieline > 3D model feature. We have a survey with some questions from the research team. Any time is greatly appreciated!
Thanks for the suggestion! I’d love to know here if rendering was faster would you prefer smart objects in Dimension so you can place the new graphics in 3D? The reason I ask is mostly because if we bake the materials and lighting down to 2D there’s a bit more limitation on what you could do with the PS smart object. For example replacing the packaging label wouldn’t update to show in reflections or refractions in the rest of the scene. Is that an okay limitation?
We plan on adding a depth slider for decals to give embossing and debossing effects in the future. I don’t have a specific timeline for that yet, but it’s on our roadmap!
Interesting idea, especially, some of the decals are just "printed" on the material paper, while some are actual decals/stickers that should show some depth, even a thin bevel and emboss.
Thanks for the suggestion and details! We’ll definitely keep this in mind. It was something we investigated, but couldn’t do it too easily. I’m sure we can with some more time!
Still interested in this one, wether separate layer for each decals (now that we can have multiple decals) or at least a separate additional layer to select them.
Hello all! Happy to say Dimension 2.2 released today (April 2nd, 2019) with some updates for Decal resolution. It should be much higher across the board and also has some new controls for graphics to be placed into “fill” mode for layered graphics.
This is not a complete solution for infinite resolution rendering. When you import graphics that are vector we are currently rasterizing based on the size of the original document. Both vector and raster images still also do have an internal size limit. This is a first step to boost the quality while we work on making the graphics truly resolution independent.

:) What kind of integration would you be looking for? Do you want to export animation from Felix? Or do you want to take the 3d models into AE for animating there with C4D lite?

Hey all! We’re taking a look at adding extrusion to Dimension later this year. We’re combining this with a text tool and hope to support vector/text extrusion later this year. I’ll update here as we progress!
Hi. I'm also all behind the "get a real 3D file from the Ai extrude/rotate tool". These are always simple shapes, but make a good start for some packaging needs.
