Hello all! Today (April 2, 2019) Dimension 2.2 released and provides free cloud rendering for all users! This is a free beta and we are still testing things so it has some limitations.

Each user will receive 15 credits per month. Credits refresh on the first of each calendar month. You cannot purchase additional credits at this time.

Renders consume credits based on quality (low: 1, medium: 2, high: 3). So you can do 5-15 cloud renders for free per month.

Renders are limited to 2000 × 2000 pixels size for cloud rendering.

This is just for the beta period and we plan to change as we get feedback from everyone about this feature. There is a survey about the feature that will appear in the application and you can reach it here: http://www.adobe.com/go/dimension-cloud-render-survey

We’re very much looking forward to everyones feedback on this beta!

Any news on the cloud based rendering? i heard it was expected in the new release? i am trying the beta links but they all say they've been shut down. I want to see how fast my file would render on a more optimized machine

Is there a way to save my models for my own Dimension CC?
The program opens with Models of bottles and bags. How can I have a model i built appear in the programs side bar without having to import it each time?

Hey everyone, Jeanette with the Dimension team here. We are conducting a survey all about 3D Characters!

This survey takes 10 minutes to complete. The survey will remain open until Friday, March 22nd at 12:00 PM PT.

Here is the link for the survey:
    https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FXGB5PD

At the end of the survey, you will have the option to indicate whether you are interested in participating in a 60-minute, 1:1 research interview about 3D characters. Selected participants will receive a $100 USD Amazon gift card as a thank you for their time, upon completion of the interview.

It would be nice if we could pose pre-rigged character models (from Fuse or other programs) and be able to pose them in Dimension CC.
Currently if i want to change a pose i either have to make a no OBJ with a different pose or import ever body part as an in dependent obj file and place them painstakingly into a believable position. but this can become intensive for the program.

btw, i think your program allready renders chracter skins (materials) very well.
Here are a couple examples of people using Dimensions to render characters, It looks beautiful.

The program already does a lot when it comes to characters.

    Nick commented  ·

I understand, Although i wish it was more on the spectrum.
How i would love to use this program is as a render program for my 3d files, so being able to support cycles, or particle textures from other programs would allow everyone to utilize Dimensions to render out of program they used to build it.
Everyone knows when rendering, you can't use the program for much else. Create in Blender, render in dimensionCC (Looks insanely real) and i can still work and model in blender, or Photoshop, or whatever else while my project is rendering. it is incredibly freeing when it comes to creation time.
But not being able to support the textures for light and hair/fur, definitely puts a limiter on this programs power and usefulness in the market.

For these same reasons i look forward to DimensionsCC supporting Keyframes So i can render videos, animations, or games in dimensions CC and continue using the other programs to build more content.

I'm just in love with this program btw, it renders better then a lot of other programs from what i see and it's interfaced for a graphic designer. This is big.

Wonderful!! Currently I've just been using the focus blur and putting a duplicate of the glow object object deep into the foreground, so the focus blur sorta gives a bit of a glow appearance, but it's not the best :/
I would post a pic for reference if the comments would let me. Here's a link if you're interested.

Hey all, just wanted to give a little update on Animation for Dimension. We believe animation is an important part of working with 3D and do plan to include animation features in the future, however it will not be for 2019. Likely this will start in 2020 but I’ll update as we get closer!

    Nick commented  ·

Video would be cool, but render video games would be cool

    Nick commented  ·

All of the above would be best.
If we could also create a 3D animation in PhotoShop and import it to DImension CC to render, that would also be great.

    Nick commented  ·

It seems silly that photoshop can import and render 3D motion/animations but dimension CC can only do stills.

    Photoshop has lame render skills,
I want to be able to use Dimension CC to render games and videos. is there any reason why it can't do this?

Why can't adobe Dimension CC render 3D animation?

It would be nice if we could merge objects into a single layer. Grouping is nice, but when you're placing a lot of shapes in a group, it works the computer pretty hard.
I think if we could merge the shapes together it would ease as 1 layer it might make it easier on how the shapes are being processed

I'm not sure, i might not be using it correctly. when i select the magic wand and try to select an area on an object, it just selects the entire object (or any other object i click on) i'm not sure how this is different from using the direct selection tool. Am i missing something?

    Booleans! Yes!!!!

    Nick commented  ·

I just learned that i can export a photoshop 3D layer as a OBJ file and import it as a new 3D model for DimensionCC. This program just got 1million times better and it took me too long to find this. it should be in the tutorial.

It would be nice if there was a way to crop shapes, like maybe cut a spuere in half (in dimensioncc) byselecting 2 models and using some sort of path find type tool where it delets 1 shape and the area that is interesected.
Either that or some sort of difform tool to difform shapes in program.

Dimension uses the Adobe Standard Material which is based off of the NVidia MDL language. Our supported extension is ‘.mdl’, but it does require the Adobe Standard Material type. You can create MDLs using Substance Painter and Designer at the moment.

    https://helpx.adobe.com/dimension/using/standard-materials.html

For MTL we do have a conversion process when importing it along with an .obj but we do not have a standalone MTL importer yet. This is something we can add though. Since this is an idea based forum I’ll edit this question to be a proposal to support importing MTL materials.

At the moment it is not possible to create fur and hair systems in Dimension (realistic hair strands). For a flat texture or hair planes, these are things you would create in another modeling system and import with the item.

Since this is an idea based forum, please only post suggestions. I will edit this one to be a proposal for hair/fur generator.

Hello everyone! Just wanted to say we are starting work on some lighting features this year. While I don’t know the full scope of what we’ll be able to release this year yet, some areas we’re exploring are:

More directional lights (like the sun) with a lightpainting interface to create custom environment lights.

Improvements to our Match Image feature to be able to detect and generate multiple indoor lights.

Improvements to glow materials to make them more expressive.

Additions of haze, environmental atmosphere, etc.

Last, but not least, actual 3D placed light objects.

I’ll update here when we have a more scoped vision or a prototype for testing! :)

    Nick commented  ·

There needs to be a better way to add light ources. the enviroment reflections and intensity are great, but it doesn't give me a lot of control when i'm trying to dictate exactly where i want light and shadow to fall. I understand that adding sunlight gives me an extra light source, or i can create a giant glowing object of frame, but none of this is good and i feel like i'm trying to make it do something, when i should have settings for it.

So in short: we need an option for mulitple light sources and a waye to change the color and the position of those light sources.

It would be great if the program could render in the background while working on separate tasks, like a different design without interrupting the render process, or render multiple images at once.
