Hey all! We’re taking a look at adding extrusion to Dimension later this year. We’re combining this with a text tool and hope to support vector/text extrusion later this year. I’ll update here as we progress!

Yeah, Adobe epically failed on this one. They seemed to be heading in the right direction with Dimension and claimed to be interested in user feedback, but then they completely dropped it like a hot potato in favor of Substance 3D - which isn't even included in the Adobe CC package! And, Substance 3D is very counter-intuitive for Adobe users. The learning curve for that program is huge! In the meantime, they've tried to pacify the Dimension users by revamping Illustrator's 3D capabilities, but even that is very limited. If Adobe would just focus on one 3D program and do it right the first time I think they'd have better success and happier users. Instead, they either give us half-baked 3D programs or programs nobody wants to purchase, learn, or use. It's just sad and frustrating.

Hello! In our next release we’ve added automatic UV generation and error fixing so if you have a model with no UVs or that we detect UV errors you’ll get a prompt to resolve the issue.
This process is currently fully automatic and we are not yet adding manual UV mapping and controls. Once the new feature is out we’ll continue to evaluate providing manual custom UV controls.
Yeah this is a VRay feature we’ve thought about. It just rounds out the edges a little bit to give them a more natural, less ‘hard’ look. I think it could be very valuable! Thanks for posting!

Hi everyone. I wanted to let you know we do plan to add more layers to the .psd output including shadow/light passes, reflection and some other helpful bits. I’ll keep you updated as we get closer on this one.
Hello everyone! The Dimension team is very interested in the topic of creation/modeling/editing as a whole. We haven’t added any creation so far, but are actively researching this area. We have a new survey on modeling and editing and would love your thoughts on the topic!
Hello! The Dimension team is gathering some feedback around various export requests. If you’re interested in providing more detail on your request for exporting workflows, please take a moment to fill out the following brief survey:
Hello everyone! I wanted to thank you for a lot of patience on the topic of creation and modeling in Dimension. I thought I’d provide a small update here.
Dimension 3.2 just released with our first native creation features, including text and basic shapes.
In the future we do expect to have some more creation like vector extrusion and lathing, but don’t have a release timeline for that yet.
I will l say we are also working on some cool mesh editing capabilities, so you can customize models instead of having to start from scratch.
I hope to update here soon with more progress, but in the mean time, I hope you enjoy text and shapes!
Hello everyone! Thank you so much for your patience and interest in this idea over the last several years. At Adobe MAX 2018 we demoed a technology called Project Fantastic Fold, and over the last year we’ve been working on bringing that into reality.
I’m pleased to say we’re opening our first private beta for Project Fantastic Fold, a tool for interactively folding dielines into 3D models.
The private beta requires you to join the Prerelease. If you’re interested please head to https://www.fantasticfold.com/ and sign up for the beta program!
